Counseling Austin

In its broadest definition, counseling is a forum that is dedicated to growing toward a more authentic and autonomous self. It is about evolving beyond old ways of being that no longer work, ways that have become painful or futile. It is a method by which you can learn to live life more fully and be more fully you.

My main role as counselor is to co-create a relationship with my clients, which fosters all of the above. This includes acting as guide, facilitator, mirror, sounding board and filter. The client's part is to show up with all the stuff in their worlds that is not working AND have the intention of transforming it.

My clients find me to be an empathic listener, a keen observer, and a calming presence. In addition to time-honored methods of clinical intervention, I weave in other techniques based on the burgeoning research regarding our body-mind intelligence. These include focusing, EMDR, EFT, relaxation and developing mindfulness.
